Fluoro
This is an unusual one, The Nutters are new to the Acorn scene and don't follow its conventions - but for a first demo it's terrific. Fluoro starts off with lots of bitmap graphics, these are easily the best I've seen in any Acorn demo although the use of a 256-colour screen mode does spoil them a little (32K would have been nice, folks).
After the initial titles, a sequence similar to one in Era, with light sources moving over a bump mapped surface - this is good, although it doesn't quite match The Xperience's version. A few transitions and we have a cube of 27 smaller cubes rotating around, firstly just flat, to which texture mapping, and then light sourcing is added. I have the niggling feeling here that it's not as fast as it could be... oh, well...
This demo's piece de resistance is an image with a morphing 3d object in front of it. The object has no colouring of its own, it is clear but refracts the image behind it! This is a unique effect and really makes the demo: I was very impressed.
Fluoro has a really cool soundtrack as well, although like with Reisnac you'll need expensive speakers to hear it, and it links in well with the effects - unless you're using AutoVCache, which makes several parts of this demo much much faster, but brings them out of sync with the music!
