Repro

Get the most from your colour printer

Repro is a tool which allows you to specify the reproduction of colour on paper from images which appear on the screen.

All proper RISC OS applications which support a Print option will talk to the printer via the !Printers application and the various modules associated with it. Certain types of printer (including mechanical dot matrix and inkjet printers) will fall into a general purpose dot-matrix category. These printers in turn make use of module called PDumperSupport which consults a Palette file for the translation of colours on screen to the dot patterns on paper. Repro is an editor for this palette file.

Repro gives complete control over screen size, screen angles, gamma correction, grey balance and black removal. In short, Repro allows you to hone the output of your own combination of printer, inks and paper to produce the best possible results. Repro can also be used to create palette files for special effects such as posterization, colour separations and very large halftones.

Multiple palettes can be defined and stored, and an application called !PrintPal (included) allows palette files to be changed while the printer driver is running to speed the process of editing palettes.

Repro has been developed in association with Acorn, using the expertise which has been used in the past to develop the most comprehensive range of Standard and PROdrivers in the market.

Expert users can customize and extend Repro by adding libraries of BASIC functions to provide alternative routines for defining dot patterns and colour calibration.
