Genesis Project

Genesis has for many years been the best selling multimedia authoring system for the Archimedes. Genesis Project, the successor to Genesis Plus has evolved as a consequence of feedback from Genesis users including the Hampshire children and teachers who produced the outstanding Horizon project.

This new version is much quicker and easier to use, yet incorporates the speed and power of the ‘top of the range’ Genesis Professional. A complete revision of the user interface has made creating, linking and editing pages and frames easily accessible to children and adults alike.

Genesis Project provides a multimedia authoring environment which is friendly yet provides sufficient power to satisfy the everyday needs of most users. Applications authored using Genesis Project are, of course, fully compatible with Genesis Professional so that they can be used as the basis for more complex work.

The Genesis menu structure has been simplified by using dialogue boxes to alter the style of frames and pages. This means that all aspects of the style of an object can & altered in one go rather than one aspect at a time. Master pages can now be created and added to a library. Application creation and editing has been eased by the introduction of ‘Object Linking and Embedding’. ‘OLE’ allows data to be transferred quickly and smoothly between Genesis and editors such as Draw, Euclid and Artworks. A control -double click on a frame will cause the data in the frame to be loaded into the appropriate editor. The data can be‘ - altered in the editor and when saved, the Genesis frame will be updated.

New data types have been incorporated into Genesis Project which now supports Artworks, Replay, Windows .BMP and .WAV files. Predefined control buttons can be added to Euclid, Film, Replay and sound frames. A 24 bit colour model is used throughout and Genesis can handle the new 15 and 24 bit Sprites.

New features include the ability to close one page as another opens. Films can be run in ‘one shot’ or ‘yoyo’ mode. 3D style frame borders are provided which enhance the appearance of your applications. The speed at which Genesis pages load has been increased significantly. A new ‘turbo- loading’ system minimises the number of transactions with the filing system and reaps impressive benefits, particularly on slower filing systems such as the network and CDROM.

Upgrades are available from Genesis and Genesis Plus (including those which were bundled with Learning Curve machines).
