Installation Overview

Install the hardware.

Install PortVision Plus®.

Program the network information (IP address) into the DeviceMaster using PortVision Plus.

If necessary, upload SocketServer. Check the SocketServer version on the DeviceMaster against the latest released version.

Make sure that you have performed the appropriate steps in the Before Configuration subsection.

Note If you require only secure COM ports, you do not need to install the NS-Link driver. Refer to the Secure COM port redirector overview to install and set up secure COM ports.

Locate the NS-Link driver and then install the NS-Link device driver.

Perform the following steps in the Comtrol Drivers Management Console:

Optionally, configure one or more ports for socket mode.

Connect the serial devices. Open the DeviceMaster Installation and Configuration Guide if you need cabling information.

Make sure that you have performed the appropriate steps in the Before Installation subsection.

If necessary, upload SocketServer on the DeviceMaster.

Note SocketServer is the default application that runs on the DeviceMaster. SocketServer provides TCP/IP socket access from other hosts or for serial tunneling when sockets are configured.

Configure the serial port attributes using the SocketServer web page.

Note If required for your site, configure security in SocketServer.

Connect the serial devices. Open the DeviceMaster Installation and Configuration Guide if you need cabling information.
