AACD: Newsflash!

Amiga Active CDs have some new features

Automatic setup when the CD is inserted

Amiga Active CDs now have the option of automatically initialising themselves.

By installing the autorun program in your WBStartup drawer, your Amiga can detect when an Amiga Active CD is inserted and automatically run the relevant parts of the Welcome script.

The first time you Autorun your Amiga Active CD, you will see a requester asking if you want to load these pages too, or just initialise the CD. You can see this requester each time or make a permanent choice. This behaviour can also be controlled from AACDprefs.

Installing Autorun

Clidk the "Install Autorun" button to install Autorun to your WBStartup drawer. It will not overwrite any existing program in there.

Using Autorun

Autorun works transparently in the background, setting up your Amiga Active CD when it is inserted into your CD drive. If, for any reason, you want to insert an Amiga Active CD without autorun setting it up, hold down either Shift key for three seconds after inserting the disc.

Autorun is a commodity, it can be disabled or quit from the Workbench Commodities Exchange program. For more information about the Autorun program, see Autorun.guide. If you want to remove Autorun permanently, either delete it from WBStartup of click the button below.

Uses a registered copy of AWeb if installed

Welcome now detects a registered copy of AWeb 3.3 and uses this instead. The first time this happens, Welcome will copy its own preferences to your system (separate from your normal AWeb settings). This is done so that you may use a different setup for the CD to your browsing configuration. For example, many people browse with images turned off, but they should be on when using the CD. This has also allowed us to add a custom menu to the settings, enabling you to jump straight to particular sections of the CD.

Newsflashes to keep you informed of changes

This newsflash will be shown only the first time you run this particular CD. It is intended to let you know of any changes or new features of your new Amiga Active CD. The next time you start this CD, you will go straight to the Welcome page as usual.
