SQL (or structures query language) is a language for querying information from
databases using 'easy' commands. e.g.

SELECT surname, forename, address, age WHERE age=21 AND status="female"

SQL has been around for *ages* in one form or another. You may have even done
some SQL at school. I remember doing a class in maths on doomsday book
statistics.
