Sorry, I should have stated that Enfore is a demo of a game.
BTW, lots of demos use sprites. Riverhorse is, as you say one. Also take
a look at one of the many demos with Doom-cloan voxel effects that were
released around '93/94 and that used sprites for all sorts of objects.
