Hyperion is pleased to announce it has acquired a license from Interplay to port Volition's best-selling space-combat simulator "Freespace: The Great War" to the Amiga.

System-requirements include PPC processor (WarpOS), graphics-card (AGA under review) and 32 MB RAM with full support of 3D accelerators through Warp3D. A 68060 version is not ruled out but would most likely require 3D acceleration. Confirmed members of the programming team include Hans-Joerg Frieden and Christian Sauer. The game is tentatively slated for release early Q2 2000 and will be published by Titan Computer.

"Freespace pushed the genre of the space-combat simulators into new realms of realism and graphical excellence", says Ben Hermans, managing partner of Hyperion. "We are therefore very excited to bring this unrivaled experience to the Amiga especially because the genre has been notably absent on the Amiga in recent years. With Freespace we continue to deliver on our promise of bringing high-end bestsellers to the Amiga platform. If users ever needed a reason to upgrade to PPC, this is it."
