I just did this with no success:
sprintf(sbuff,"%ld",result);
SetRexxVar((struct Message *)rxMsg,resultbase,sbuff,strlen(sbuff));
SetRexxVar((struct Message *)rxMsg,dlbase,sbuff,strlen(sbuff));
---
say result
say lala
---
RESULT
1
So I would guess that ARexx prevents this...
