I guess you used the WB3.1 or earlier Format command? That wraps around at
4GB and overwrites the RDB :-( It can be used if you use the QUICK option,
or you can use PFSFormat as supplied with PFS3.

Most likely the MaxTransfer value was wrong - never use a value larger than
0x1fe00 with IDE drives.

And remember to use a MaxTransfer value of 0x1fe00, and FORMAT QUICK or
PFSFormat for each partition!

No, many people use drives much larger than 8GB without any problem. In
fact it's almost impossible to buy drives that small any more - and is
simply not necessary.
