Not even on a pure white background with the brightness and contrast cranked
up here.

You think that's bad, I upgraded from a Commodore 1084s, I'd just got the
timing of blinking my eyes right to keep up with the flicker after 8 years
perfect, then the darn thing goes bang. :)
