I actually got it only cause I wanted to reduce the load on the DMA.
If I tried running any screen above 64 colours the whole transfer
would crawl to a stop :(. This way the rate seems to stay quite
constant. btw, the speeds I quoted are for a 33.6 connection. My ISP
doesn't have 56k. Still it gives the best data rates here in Malta.
