Subject: | Yet another PFS2 problem (sigh)... |
Hello everyone
This may turn out to be nothing, but I don't want to lose another hard drive!
I was dabbling in the Black Arts (read: programming in Blitz Basic) the other day
when PFS spat out a requester claiming that there was a "wrong dirblock id". I
ran diskvalid, but it reported the drive as ok. After a reboot, the requester
appeared again (also when I was using Blitz). It has not happened since, but
this behaviour is remeniscent of when my old hard drive suffered a head crash,
although there was a lot more noise coming from the drive when that happened.
My drive is making a suspicious clicking sound on disk accesses, though...
I would like to know if this "wrong dirblock id" thing is a PFS2 problem or a
physical problem with my drive, so I can take appropriate action before I lose
anything important. And is an upgrade to PFS3 likely be useful (I'd hate to go
back to FFS)?
Many thanks to anyone that can help!
