yes, these devices have been around for a while...but never really needed -
maybe until now! :-)

I dont know why fridge companies havent taken it up either.....just using
50V you get a quiet (no pumps + liquid) fridge-freezer system. anyway, i'm
babling

not good - dont forget that too cold is also bad for a CPU...if it gets too
hot, modern CPU's switch off...but too cold and no signals will be getting
anywhere. the 12V cooler should reach a gradient of 50C - however, this is
when its naked....if you are sticking a c.60C heat supply to one side, that
heat has to get away..the electric has to do more work and gets less
efficient...gradient becomes 30C and makes it less efficient at removing the
heat...but still, its at least twice as good as a passive sink+fan solution

i'd like to think mine was a 300MHz model...hmmm..but i havent overclocked
