I think they do something with the multiplier under one of the crystals
(which is removed totally).

AFAICS, its just the bus-speed thats changed, but by altering the
multiplier, youre altering the clockspeed aswell. Thats why a 166mhz ppc
becomes 175mhz, yet the bus-speed goes down, making it more stable during
extensive usage.
