At 12-Jan-00, Michael Carter said something about
[bvppc] Black Outs (back again), resulting in this reply.

Hmm thats a new one here! Is certainly doesnt fit under the 'black-out'
header since black-outs are permanent black screens (no reboot) with no
possibility to get rid of them. (usually powering down for an hour or
fiddling with the connector)

Though you should make sure your connection is secure, ie, unplug your ppc
gear (especially the bvision) and clean the connections carefully, screw
the bvision back on the ppc (careful, not too tight!) and the ppc on the
mainboard. Try getting rid of one of the power-tricks you mentioned, start
with the ppc fan. Though this certainly doesnt sound like an overheating
problem to me (unless, ofcourse, you suffer from garbled screens aswell)

Also, check you simm! These things wear out you know, and Ive had the
problem before with a blizzard 1230 being VERY unstable until I used a new
simm in it! See if you can borrow one from someone.

Hmm Im not sure how many hardware you have in your tower, but if youve got
lots of drives and devices, unplug a few of those, perhaps the tower PSU
cant handle it.

Last, does the reboot occur immediately or is it guru-ing in a PAL screen
not visible to you? Anyway, DO check your software set-up, its most likely
that you'll find the answe in there. Install a clean workbench and
cybergraphx on a spare partition, and boot from that one for a while. Dont
use assigns, just copy every library it asks for one by one, taking reboots
between every copy to ensure it doesnt interfer.

Good luck,
