Subject: | Deficons44 and chip mem |
From: "Andrew Deacon" <andy@deakmann.demon.co.uk>
I've just installed deficons44, a very useful program but it seems
somewhat wasteful with my chipmem.
I have Wbctrl installed which seems to do a reasonable job of saving
my chipmem but with deficons installed if I go to a directory with say
50 jpegs in I lose alot of chipmem and don't get much back when I
close the directory. It dosen't seem to make a difference if I display
the files by name rather than icon either.
Another problem I noticed is when displaying directories with a very
large no. of files (say 200 jpegs) WB3.5 seems to get stuck when
changing from 'view by name ' to 'view by icon'. For a couple of
minutes the mouse will move but i'm unable to open any windows or
files. Eventually the icons will suddenly appear. Is there anything I
can do about this or is it just a bug?
Finally despite clearing out all my old unecessary patches I still
can't get the 'Exchange' commodity to work. My machine will freeze
instantly if I load it. The old 3.1 version works fine. I'd like to
try Tweak WB but I can't actually get it to do anything. Can it's
prefs only be accessed from Exchange?
Many thanks
