Has anyone told Stephen Brookes what a fantastic amount of interest
there is in his FBlit software, now that we have OS3.5 and WbCtrl
giving AGA users a rejuvenated computer with the Chip RAM ceiling
almost removed, AND faster graphics, all thanks to FBlit?

In case Stephen is not aware of this vigorous mailing list, I hope
that he sees the cc of this message. If I am being ridiculous because
of course he knows about it, then I apologise to everybody.

I too have found that FBlit3.51a chucks away 300k as soon as I look at
icon information. I too have found that FBlit2.63a doesn't lose this
memory. It gives me 1.69MB Chip after boot-up, and lets me keep it..

I have copies of FBlit 2.45a, 2.63a, 3.47 and 3.51a. Versions 3.47 and
3.51a come with separate FBlit.library files. I have tested FBlit and
FBlit.library in all combinations (e.g FBlit 3.47 with
FBlit.library3.51a) and I have found that the ONLY way of not losing
300k as soon as I do anything is to revert to 2.63a.

However, this worries me. Docs in both FBlit3.47 and 3.51a mention
serious bug-fixes. I don't understand enough about the system to know
whether it is OK to use 2.63 /with/ the unfixed bugs. Also, I am
wondering, are we possibly deluding ourselves here? Is it possible
that 2.63a is not giving us more system resources than 3.51a but is
wrongly making us believe that it is doing? Maybe that is one of the
bug-fixes in 3.51a!!

Lastly, can anyone advise me on how to set up ENVARC:FBLIT.cfg in
respect of the INCLUDES and the EXCLUDES? My FBlit.cfg has at the end
a sequence such as this:
*FABM_Include_Task_List
:
:<list of tasks>
:

*FABM_Exclude_Task_List
:
:<list of tasks>
:

I assume that one can add tasknames under either list but what I don't
understand is wht /BOTH/lists (INcludes /and/ EXcludes) are there.
Does a task get INcluded automatically unless it is EXcluded? Or do I
have to INclude it expressly? If I do have to do this, then why is
an EXclude list needed?

Baffled be I.

Three cheers to Stephen Brookes AND to the OS3.5/3.51 team for
EXCELLENT work.
