Glowicons? I guess you're talking about the new os3.5 coloricons!? Right?
I rather doubt that NewIcons consume less (chip) memory than the coloricons
of os3.5. An image of eg. 64x48x5 always requires the same amout of chipmem,
no matter in which format it was originally stored. NewIcons require more
diskspace and it takes more time to load them into memory than the new
coloricons. And don't forget the NewIcons support in icon.library will be
removed someday !

BTW: If you want to save some chipmem then visit Aminet or my homepage
and get CondenseIcon.lha.
