Yes, access to AWD was free, however, quite a few amiga users (myself
included) did pay their annual fee simply because of the resources made
available on AWD. Like I stated earlier, I would like to know the REAL
story behind the retirement ofthe AWD. The reasons given by CUCUG are lame
and vague.

While I can understand their desire to return to their roots as a local
computer user group, I don't understand why they wouldn't offer the AWD and
the various associated copyrights/service marks on the open market.

Obviously, CUCUG believes that AWD has some value, otherwise they would have
made an announcement prior to the retirement of the AWD. This would have
given many users a chance to go the AWD and save the various pages to their
computer for future use. Or they could have simply stated that the AWD was
not going to be updated after Jan 1, 2000, or so on.

At the very least they could have asked if another user group or online
amiga resource was interested in either maintaining or incorporating the
AWD into their organization.
