This software makes it possible to transfer images from a Canon camera as well as make Canon camera settings. Ensure that ZoomBrowser EX 5.2 or later is installed before installing CameraWindow. 2. Image types supported by CameraWindow CameraWindow supports the following image types. - Files of images taken using a Canon camera - JPEG image files that conform to the DCF standard 3. Communicating with Canon camera (1) During communication between CameraWindow and the Canon digital camera, do not use the Canon camera's mode dial, remove the memory card or battery, and do not unplug the cable between the camera and PC. Depending on your computer's operating environment, doing any of the above could result in faulty operation of your computer. (2) Do not put your computer into standby mode while the camera is connected to the computer's USB or IEEE1394 port. If you have accidentally put your computer into standby mode while the camera is still connected to the computer's USB or IEEE1394 port, resume from standby mode with the cable still plugged in. If you pull out the cable while still in standby mode, you may not be able to resume correctly from standby, depending on the computer model. Please refer to your computer's manual for more details about standby mode. (3) CameraWindow cannot connect to a camera that is currently in communication with another application. If the camera is communicating with other software, exit the application that is communicating with the camera and restart CameraWindow. 4. Downloading images Before you download images to the computer using CameraWindow, check that you have enough free space on the target disk. If you download images to a disk that does not have enough free space, image transfer may stop midway and fail to finish properly. 5. Formatting memory cards while camera images are displayed If a memory card is formatted from the [Camera settings] option in the menu that appears after clicking the [Set] button in CameraWindow that displays camera images, some computers may experience malfunctions. For example, the image display window may freeze and not respond to operations. If this happens with your computer, please refrain from formatting the memory card from CameraWindow and use the camera body itself to format the memory card instead. 6. Sound memos in the camera cannot be downloaded The Sound Memo file set for an image file using the camera cannot be downloaded to the PC using the camera's Direct Transfer feature. Only the image file can be downloaded. To download the Sound Memo, please use the CameraWindow's image download feature. 7. Notes regarding the direct transfer of a large quantity of images Please keep the number of images transferred at one time using Direct Transfer to 500 at most. If you attempt to transfer a large quantity of images, the camera may freeze in the middle of the transfer. If this happens, turn the camera power off and back on, and transfer the images that were not transferred. We recommend that you use the CameraWindow's image download feature when transferring a large quantity of images to the computer. 8. Notes regarding downloading sound files created with the camera's Sound Recorder When you remove a memory card that contains only sound files created using the camera's Sound Recorder feature from the camera and connect it to a computer via a card reader, it may not be recognized from CameraWindow. In this case, insert the memory card in a Canon camera loaded with the Sound Recorder feature and, with the memory card inserted, connect the camera to the computer. 9. Notes regarding Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me) The setting for auto-launching when the camera is connected takes effect after restarting the computer only when using Windows Me. 10. Windows XP and the Fast User Switching feature This program does not support the Fast User Switching feature in Windows XP. If you use the Fast User Switching feature while using this program, it may not operate correctly. To avoid problems, we recommend you close this program before using Fast User Switching. 11. Shooting with cameras that support image display If you connect to a Canon camera that can display images on its LCD monitor or output them to its Video Out terminal, you can remotely select the camera's output mode from RemoteCapture Task at any time during the connection. When adjusting the digital zoom, the images in the camera's LCD monitor and Video Out output are displayed with the maximum optical zoom. Please use the viewfinder display in the RemoteCapture Task's Window when setting the digital zoom. 12. Shooting with the camera's shutter button You can remotely shoot an image by pressing the Release button in the RemoteCapture Task's screen. You can also shoot the image by pressing the camera's shutter button. The delay between the pressing of the camera's shutter button and the actual shooting of the image is slightly longer when the shutter button is used in conjunction with RemoteCapture Task than when the camera is used entirely by itself. 13. AF lock and macros In the RemoteCapture Task's Window, Macro settings can become unstable if you unlock the auto focus. If this happens, you should check your macro settings again.
