Creating reports from your web browser
Creating reports from your web browser is easy and requires very little knowledge of Observer Reporting Server.
The basic workflow consists of copying report elements you find appealing, and then pasting them into a new or existing report.
All users can create custom reports, even if they lack access to the Observer Reporting Server software. The only requirement is a user account that can access the ORS web server using a web browser.
Traditionally, report creation is limited to those with access to the back end Observer Reporting Server application. In most cases, the number of people with access to ORS is significantly smaller than the number of report viewers. Such disparity can create a situation where requests for custom reports cannot be fulfilled in a timely manner. You may even discover that some departments simply need the flexibility to create reports from any computer.
With its benefits, creating reports from the web browser is also secure:

Creators must have a working user account in ORS. (NIMS if applicable)

Creators can only create reports from existing report elements—meaning only from what they can see.

User reports can be deleted by administrators at any time.
