Cup France '98 - Official
If you are willing to wait out the slick artwork, this official site
has interesting behind the scenes articles and updates. If you need tickets,
schedules, traveling info, or a good book on the history of the cup, this
is your place.
Football
World Cup 1998
As we get closer to France, this site promises to have excellent features.
If the nice layout, original team summaries, and qualifying match reports
are anything to go by, this page might be the way to follow the action.
WC98
The graphics are awful high-tech but also cluttered and slow slow-loading.
Other than the gilt and flash, there's a lot to like here: an amazing statistical
database, a rotating contest, and analysis of the teams and the draw.
InfoTimes
- World Cup Countdown
From the London Times comes a great preview site which analyzes all
of the teams which are in the finals.
Welcome to France
This is a good resource for those traveling to the World Cup finals
in summer '98. The hotel, ticket, tourism, and city information is
invaluable if you're lucky enough to be going (wanna take me?). There's
also French lessons...
Final Whistle:
1998 France
This is a simple but attractive and easy to use site. There is
a forum for your opinions and a clock which counts down the exact second
until the World Cup begins.
France
'98 - The Unofficial Site
This site is very attractive and laid out well. There's history, videos
of past goals, shopping, and news of qualifying.
SportsWeb - World
Cup '98
Apart from Sportsweb's usual up to the minute news, this rather bland
page features a high-tech Shockwave animation of the World Cup schedule.
Football
Fans United
Follow footy developments at this one stop shopping palace. You'll
find information on France '98, the major European competitions, and a
handful of European leagues at this ambitious site.
The Interactive
World Cup History Pages
From CyberWorld online comes one slick yet excellent history of the
World Cup. Go through time with Lázaro Candal and get some
great pictures, all the info you can eat, and even some national anthems.
Duncan
Lau's World Cup History
This is a good page about the history of the world's biggest soccer
tournament. There's historic moments, records, and statistics. Plus, all
of the official World Cup posters and mascots.
FIFA's
France '98 Page
FIFA, of course, has gotten in on the France '98 Web page bonanza,
and it isn't half bad. The history text is worth looking at, as is
the graphical review of each country's world rankings.
Football Panorama
This is a crazy statistical site dedicated to the history of the World
Cup. The tables are sometimes confusing, but there's some interesting
stuff here (especially if you dig numbers).
England 2006
This a nicely done site campaigning for England's bid for the 2006
World Cup. It offers an outline of the English plan and also allows
you to get involved in the action (not just in the bid but also with a
Shockwave game).
