Romania have money troubles

Published: April 27, 1998

Romanian coach Anghel Iordanescu is raging against his employers again after his squad for the friendly in Belgium was restricted from 22 players to just 20.

The coach will leave in July after much acrimony with the Romanian federation but the row over bonus payments is rumbling on. There have been no bonuses paid to team officials, doctors or coaches after they were promised and the reduction in Iordanescu's squad comes after more concern over team finance.

Romania are struggling to meet the cost of funding the full squad at the World Cup this summer and an under-21 side.
