Saudi Arabia begin six weeks training in France

Published: April 17, 1998

Saudi Arabia are to start a 45 day training camp in the South of France this weekend.

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira will have 28 players together for the sessions which make the Saudis the envy of other coaches at the World Cup Finals. For example, they will play a friendly against England at Wembley on May 23rd and Glenn Hoddle is on record expressing his concern over the short time he has to work with his England players in the build up to the Finals. Six weeks in the sun in France should mould the Saudis into the sort of unit their Brazilian coach wants to see and they will be testing themselves in games against Jamaica, Italy, Iceland and Namibia to break up the training schedules and give the players some competitive matches to focus on.
