Vogts will reach decision on strikers next week Published: April 15, 1998
German coach Berti Vogts has recalled defender Steffen Freund and midfielder Mehmet Scholl for the Nigeria friendly in Cologne on April 22nd. The game has been switched from Stuttgart and the 28 man squad also includes Schalke 04 defender Yves Eigenrach as well as Christian Nerlinger and Carsten Jancher who both play for Bayern Munich. Nigeria will be fielding a strong side next week and the attitude of Berti Vogts to the recent poor form of captain Jurgen Klinsmann will be revealed in his selection. Vogts rarely varies from the 4-4-2 system and Oliver Bierhoff and Ulf Kirsten have been the two most impressive strikers over the last six weeks. |
