New England injury

Published: April 01, 1998

England coach Glenn Hoddle has a new injury to contend with as goalkeeper Tim Flowers goes into hospital today for tests on a damaged shoulder.

Flowers has been playing for six weeks with ligament damage and was led away from a League match last night with his arm in a sling.

He is currently the number 2 to David Seaman and will find out this week if he needs surgery. If the shoulder does require an operation he is likely to miss the World Cup.

Hoddle continues to have a squad stricken by injuries in every department as England's run of bad luck and poor form continues.
