WHO WE ARE

My name is Roger Le Grove Rogers. I was the manager and head of delegation of the U.S.Women's Team from its beginning in international competition in 1985, up to and including winning the first FIFA Women's World Championship in China in 1991.

I am just finishing writing a book about my six years with the team, and work as a writer, lecturer and consultant with particular emphasis on the role of women in sport. Recent presentations include Mental Training of Athletes: Are Differences Seen When Training Male and Female Athletes? given at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Education at the World Sports Coach Summit IV held in Tokyo and Nagano, Japan; and Understanding Gender Differences When Coaching Athletes given as part of a symposium Knowledge About Gender Differences: Consequences For Coaching given at the 8th. World Congress of Sport Psychology in Lisbon, Portugal. A medical biochemist by training, my languages are English, German, French and Chinese and I have been a club, state and college coach of both men and women

Your input about women's soccer is requested. Please send us current news and information about players, staff, teams and the game.
