1997-98 BLUES SEASON

Going back to the beginning, the summer season was again a good one for the Blues soccer club. Aside from last year's good fortune winning four 97 state championships, having four teams compete in the 1997 Far West Regionals, and having the U19 Blues nearly win a National Championship; the club began the new season winning a championship at the Saddleback cup (U10), winning two San Diego Surf championships (U13 & U16), had two finalists (U15 & U17) and won three championships (U10, U13, U19) at the neighborhood Mission Viejo tournament, and finished up summer tournament play with two finalists (U11, U12) and one Pleasanton tournament (U13) championship.

Blues teams were again impressive in Coast Soccer League play with 78 wins, 22 losses, and 25 ties overall. The Southern California Blues completed the league season winning three coast league championships (U13, U15, & U19 Premier) and took two CSL cup championships (U13, U18). Favored to win a lot of games it was a challenge to match last year's incredible Coast Soccer League results.

At the conclusion of regular Coast Soccer League play, all Blues teams with the exception of the Baby (U10) Blues traveled down to San Diego for the Surf tournament during the turkey day holiday and what may have been the last opportunity for college coaches to evaluate our seniors before they decide where they will attend school. The Blues Club had a great weekend winning three Surf Championships overall.
