Selected Blues players at all age groups took the long trek over the weekend of February 8 & 9 to fulfill their national team dreams and attend the second phase of Olympic Development Team Tryouts. They were measured up with the top players in Southern California in their respective age group to win a spot on the CYSA-South State Team.
It is already an honor to be asked to attend tryouts in Bakersfield, there were about 150 players in each age group all competing for the same 20 spots on the state team. The selected girls all had to attend district tryouts to get an opportunity to show their talents in Bakersfield. Blues News counted at least 29 girls who represented the Blues at the tryouts.
Out of those 29 players, 19 Blues players were fortunate enough to be selected to represent Southern California at state competitions to be held throughout the spring and summer months, and who knows, maybe one day in the Women's World Cup.
