A.S. ELFEN FOOTBALL CLUB

I. Overview & Philosophy

A.S. Elfen F.C. was established as an elementary girl's soccer team in Sayama City located about 100 miles north west of Tokyo in 1986. The team now has 37 members, 17 junior high school students, 18 high school students, seven members over 18 years old.

The team philosophy is for all players to enjoy playing soccer, to have friends and to develop and improve ideas for all their life activities. Enjoying playing soccer means that it is necessary for them to win the game or to make some improvement in their skill. On the other hand one of the most important things is that the club members make friends and establish good communications with all people through the activity. The United States Visit at this time was planned three years ago due to the team concept.

II. Organization of Management

A.S. Elfen F.C. is administrated by volunteer people, four coaches, one manager, and the chairman. The club is supported by team members, their parents, and related people. The team staff is not licensed to teach soccer in Japan, however, they are specialists such as a manager of teachers, military personnel, a health teacher, a scientist, and others who have experienced playing soccer at a young age.

III. Achievment

The Champion of Saitama Prefecture League in 1996
The Champion of Saitama Prefecture Tournament in 1996

Saitama Prefecture is the most famous prefecture for soccer in Japan, there are about 70 girl's teams over the age of 13 including the National Champion of high school and one national professional league team (OKI Electronic Company), as well as a semiprofessional team (Urawa city team sponsored by members of companies in Urawa).

Elfen is a citizen team that does not have a sponsor, however, they won games versus the national high school champions and sometimes defeat the semipro team.
