I have seen aluminium covers sold for heaters. These may not be a
great idea though. I read an article once in which the author's
Hemibagrus wyckii (crystal-eyed catfish) bit the aluminium cover
and crushed it (and the heater inside!). Two suggestions: 1) Go
to hardware store and buy some clear hose and boil it. While it
is hot stretch it over the heater. It will then
"shrink-wrap" the heater glass. 2) Cover the heater
with a piece of PVC pipe. Silicone suction cups onto the pipe
then stick it to the back. Now just lower the Ebo-Jaeger down in
the pipe. The second method will give you the ultimate
protection. OK maybe the ultimate protection would be cable
heating under an undergravel plate weighed down with very heavy
rocks. No, maybe it would be just heating the outside room to a
constant 80F.
Hope this helps,
