About the AAVI


The American Academy of Veterinary Informatics exists to:

1. Facilitate the dissemination and application of veterinary medical knowledge in teaching, research, and practice for the purpose of delivering better health care to animals, thereby better serving the public.

2. Further educational and scientific progress in the field of veterinary informatics and stimulate the development of practical applications for use in the classroom, laboratory, and the clinic.

3. Identify and recognize qualified specialists in veterinary informatics who can act as expert consultants and referees for clinicians, academicians, and researchers.

4. Foster training and educational programs in veterinary informatics and establishing standards for specialists in the field.

5. Improve veterinary medical education, continuing education, and research.

6. Improve animal health and productivity thereby nurturing the human-animal bond and helping to ensure an adequate supply of wholesome foods of animal origin.
