So you've always wanted to go on a safari but aren't a hunter? Fujitsu Interactive and Anglia Multimedia have provided that opportunity with Virtual Safari. You are a wildlife photojournalist who's been assigned to a story on the African Savannah. Your guide, the Colonel, is full of sage advice and long drawn-out stories - he's really funny. You'll be navigating in your jeep, once you find it and the keys (and a few other essential items, including your camera!)

The idea is to photograph as many animals as possible, but it won't be easy. The animals react much as they would in real life, flying away, running or even charging if they feel threatened. The video footage you'll see is from Survival, the natural history television series. Will you survive? Have you prepared carefully?

Reactions:

We've had a lot of fun with Virtual Safari - but maneuvering has been a problem because our laptop uses the Toshiba Accupoint system, not a mouse (besides, the one serial port has our multifunction office machine connected to it.) It would be much easier to move around with a mouse, but for those of you with a Microsoft Easy Ball, forget it because there's no second click for the right mouse click.

Once the camera is located, you'll have a fine time tracking and photographing the animals. The photos can even be printed out, they look great on a color printer!

The title doubles as an animal encyclopedia, which gives it added value. We didn't have any runtime or installation problems, and the program ran at a nice speed - no long load waits, either.
