JASC, Inc. recently released a title it describes as a "Desktop Planetarium" and SkyMap lives up to it. You won't be impressed by the lightening-fast speed of its calculations, but you may be astonished at its accuracy. This very versatile guide to the heavens draws maps from anywhere on Earth, for any date between 4000BC and 8000AD. There are extensive search capabilities using catalog numbers or popular names.

SkyMap also includes a viewer so that graphics of the planets, etc., can be added into the program. If that doesn't excite you, SkyMap now controls the popular Meade LX-200 computer controlled telescope for desktop/actual viewing!

Notes:

This title installed with no problems and ran smoothly, although the calculations are NOT blindingly fast.

Features:

Two different types of maps, a catalog of 88,000 stars to magnitude 8.5, planet's positional and physical information position, etc., an up-to-date catalog of comets, extensive search facilities, printing, and now offers support for the Meade LX-200 computer controlled telescope.
