Schoolhouse Rock 3rd & 4th Grade Essentials is basically a repackaging of some of the earlier Schoolhouse Rock games, with new games added. Geared toward the 3rd and 4th grader, this software title comes on 2 CD's with one of the CD's offering math and science, and the other has language arts and social studies.
There are too many games to list all of them, but some examples include Naughty Nine Pool, where you use a mouse cursor to move pool balls around a pool table to make the correct equation, The Busy Builders, where you choose the correct preposition to help build the object, and Know Your States Trivia game, where the contestant answers questions about the 50 states. Most of the games are ho-hum, except for a few like The Melting Pot, where you have to follow the immigrants' trail to America by cities, and The Road to Fame game, a board game that has questions you must answer to advance. One game that was frustrating to play was the Four Legged Zoo, which has the player using a dog cursor to herd the correct animals according to the numbers on their sides into a corral, but it is difficult to negotiate.

Technical Aspects:
Simple to install with Autoplay, or you can select Run and type in D:setup, and follow instructions. The loading time was frustrating between play, and the cursor was excruciatingly slow during some games, and this was on a Pentium 100 which is above the recommended system requirements.
Report and Conclusions:
We were not too impressed with Schoolhouse Rock 3rd & 4th Grade Essentials. It is not a bad program, but neither is it particularly good. Some of the games are fun, but most of them are humdrum and not worth the time to play.
