Type: Puzzles/Memory
Price: $9.99

Description:

Talk about a Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin can't touch this pair of devious detectives! When it comes to crime solving, Sam & Max have their own, slightly twisted, methods of deduction.

Our story begins with Sam & Max getting an assignment from their boss to find a missing bigfoot that has disappeared from a carnival. They must travel the countryside, questioning various characters and unravelling clues as they go. As they journey, new locations will pop up on their map as they discover clues.

Sam (a dog) & Max (a deranged rabbit) are not your ordinary detectives. Cartoon violence abounds in this hilarious romp through the backroads of tourist America, along with many a bad joke. From the Largest Ball of Twine, bungee jumping from the nostrils of the Presidents of Mt. Rushmore, to convenience stores called Snuckey's, nothing is too absurd or sacred to poke fun at.

Features:

  • Sam & Max!
  • Several side games, including Wak-a-Rat
  • Bad jokes
  • Hilarious adventure

Technical Aspects:

This is a DOS game! If you have trouble installing DOS games, you may have trouble installing Sam & Max. I have Windows 95 and it ran very well on my system, a P100 with 32 Ram. I would suggest if you have trouble installing it, make a boot disk, and see if that helps. It is also an older game and the graphics and interface may not be what you are used to, but keep in mind that the story transcends the technology.

Report and Conclusions:

Sam & Max is a classic graphical adventure, and well worth purchasing. The humour and the side games are well done, and the puzzles are difficult enough to ensure a fairly long game. I would suggest, though, that parents check out this game themselves before letting their kids play, as there is some language and cartoon violence that would give this game a PG rating if it were a movie. It is similar to the Home Alone movies, if you let your kids watch those, you will probably be OK with Sam & Max. I have an 11 yr. old, and I have decided to let her play it.
