Description:

Reader Rabbit's Kindergarten offers 9 activities that introduce and/or reinforce basic developmental skills. The program is designed to cover an entire year of kindergarten education, and it certainly meets those goal! With four levels of difficulty, kids will have a wonderful time working their way through and collecting items for the camp to open its' doors to the new arrivals. The only complaint about this title is that in some of the activities, the animated characters have their backs turned away from the child the entire time. That seemed a bit strange.

Features:

  • Match and read - find pairs of objects, numbers and two-letter words
  • Celebrate Seasons -Decorate four landscapes to understand the differences among seasons.
  • Get Your Bearings - Search for Papa Bear's hidden alarm clock, using directional clues.
  • Stop and Think - choose among possible reactions to social situations, see consequences.
  • Add It Up - repair a bridge using simple math
  • Make Time For Fun - choose fun activities to learn differences between morning, noon, and night.
  • Sort It Out - OrganiZe Pierre's pantry items to learn measurement, ordering and sequencing skills.
  • Count and Cross - help Babs the Beaver cross the stream.
  • Paint Your Pal - coloring book fun.

Reactions:

"Mom, I could do that!" was what our 4 year old had to say. She's been busy working on Reader Rabbit's PreSchool recently and is almost finished with it. At the end of the activities, once all the items are collected, the fun isn't over - the campfire party begins, along with ghost stories, songs, and virtual marshmallows! This is one title she'll enjoy working through and I anticipate it will take about a month for her to complete all the activities. One thing we really enjoy around here is a great ending - and Reader Rabbit's Kindergarten certainly provides that, along with an excellent base for kids to learn the educational skills they need while gaining self-confidence - and they may even have fun along the way!
