Description:

Reading S.O.S. is an education title designed to accelerate students' reading skills. The program is based on the Orton Gillingham reading system, and applies phonics to help in understanding the relationship between letters and sounds. There are hundreds of exercises, covering four levels of difficulty. Practice activities give extra work in areas that need it, but moves more quickly in areas of strength.

Features:

  • Reinforces recognition of sound segments.
  • Color activities paced at the student's speed.
  • Develops basic sight vocabulary.
  • Four levels of difficulty.
  • An excellent variety of activities.

Technical Aspects:

We had no problems with the installation of Reading S.O.S. and no choppiness or trouble during run time. The graphics are bright, the exercises are well thought out, and the difficulty progresses as the student works through the activities.

Report and Conclusions:

Lexia Learning Systems focuses on the development of software for children with learning disabilities. Reading S.O.S. is used in many schools and Adult Learning classes with excellent results. If your older reader needs additional support in reading skills, this program provides excellent structure, in-depth activities, and progress reports to track a student's progress.
