The Adventures of Pinocchio brings the enduring story to life in a live-action computer game, based on the 1996 motion picture "The Adventures of Pinocchio" from the Kushner-Locke Company, Savoy Pictures, Inc., and New Line Productions, Inc. This is a four CD-ROM game, starring Martin Landau as Geppetto. In the storyline, Pinocchio has been kidnapped and you must help find him while dodging the villain Lorenzini's traps! The adventure features IBM's VoiceType speech recognition technology, inviting players to meet and talk to the characters. This is IBM's second in a series of CD-ROM titles using interactive MOVIEGAME technology, with live scenes from the movie and special scenes shot specifically for the game.

Comparisons

There really aren't any products being made by other companies for comparison. This title is not "cutesy" but incorporates values such as honesty and caring for others, into the gameplay.

Reactions

While this title is designed for ages 5 to 9, my 12 year thought it was "cool." The first time she played, I timed a two hour session, which is very unusually long (for her!) In fact, I suspect that ages 8 to 12 would find it interesting; younger children may not be able to appreciate the movie-like scenarios. Oh, Pinocchio, where are you?
