Description:

By moving the mouse, children using Magicbaton Jr. can "conduct" one of seven songs - controlling the tempo as well as instrument solos and accompaniments. They can also create their own animations and set them to music.

Technical Aspects:

We had no problems with installation or running on our Pentium or 486 systems.

Report and Conclusions:

Musicbaton Jr. was produced for children ages 3 to 6, who will enjoy being a conductor, if only for an afternoon. My own 3 and 4 year old played with this title for about a half hour and haven't been enthused about the idea of running it again. Coloring/paint programs in kid's titles have become passe; even with the option of making their own animations, they weren't impressed. Their take was that the music section of Jump Start Toddlers is more fun.
