Description:

Make-A-Map 3D is designed to reinforce geography skills, teach kids how to give and use simple directions, how to navigate, use a compass and understand maps. Create a city, then drive through, explore and play games in it! Along the way, kids will visit the various areas to learn more about maps near to home as well as far away.

Features:

  • Designed according to 1994 National Geography Standard.
  • Map reading and geography benchmarks.
  • Visualization skills.
  • Real-life thinking.
  • Activities help develop directional, planning and organization skills.

Technical Aspects:

Make-A-Map 3D installed quickly and ran with no obvious bugs or glitches. The speech is clear and the sound effects add to the fun of driving around your town. The graphics are cartoon style, and animations ran very smoothly.

Report and Conclusions:

We wished that the two characters, Madison The Map Man and PC (what an original name for his computer!) would just shut up! They were giving important information, but the sequences tended to drag on entirely too long. (There is an option to skip ahead, thank goodness.) Kids aged 7 to 11 will learn about maps from the elements and symbols to how to use a map key. There's information about simple directions, mirror mapping, cardinal directions, mazes, even a N.S.E.W. Road Rally! Learn about distance maps, plan trips and much, much more. Mapping is a very important skill to master, and Make-A-Map 3D will help kids go the distance.
