Description:

King's Quest VII is a beautifully animated adventure game designed as a family game that everybody can play. When the story begins, Princess Rosella is magically sucked into a pool and disappears as her mother, Queen Valanice, looks on in horror! Without hesitation, Queen Valanice then jumps into the pool after her daughter. Upon emerging from this magical vortex, Valanice finds herself in a desert with no sign of Rosella anywhere. Undaunted, she sets out to find her daughter.

The gameplay is set up in chapters: 3 chapters with Valanice and 3 with Rosella. As each discovers, the land they are in, Eldritch, is in dire trouble. An evil enchantress is plotting to blow up Eldritch, and it's up to Rosella and Valanice to stop her dastardly plot! King's Quest VII is an inventory based adventure game, where you pick up everything that isn't nailed down and try to use it somewhere. Make sure you talk to all the characters you meet, and come back to talk to them again from time to time to see if anything has changed. Look at your items in inventory to see if they can be manipulated in any way or combined with other items to create something new.

Features:

  • Adventure
  • Inventory-based puzzles
  • Female protagonists
  • Family oriented

Technical Aspects:

King's Quest VII is simple to install and ran well on my Pentium 100. The graphics are very colorful and bright.

Report and Conclusions:

This is a game I always recommend for preteen and teen girls to play. There aren't too many games for the older kids besides educational products, but this is a great game for ages 10-14. It's hard enough for adults, but easy enough for older kids with some timely hints. When I bought this game 3 years ago, my husband, mother, sisters, and oldest daughter all played it along with me. Everyone loved it! Boys who like adventure games will like it too, I mention girls specifically because there's not too much out there for older girls. I felt it was worth the money I paid 3 years ago, now at a budgeted price of $9.99, it's a must buy!
