Description:

Kids in the Kitchen is an animated cookbook that uses full motion videos and narration to encourage beginning cooking skills. In the opening screens, you'll say hi to Tex the HotDog, along with his friends Phoebe the flame and Boilin' Bob. There aren't any games here, but there are a number of kid-friendly recipes your youngsters will enjoy serving up.

Features:

  • 25 kid-friendly recipes,
  • Six categories of recipes.
  • 10 screens loaded with clickable hot spots.
  • Over 120 color videos illustrating the recipes.

Technical Aspects:

We had no problems with the installation or running of this title. We also tested it on our 486/66 system (16M RAM) and found some choppiness int he audio and video.

Report and Conclusions

This program is designed for kids aged 5 and up, includes safety tips, measurements, and simple, specific instructions that clearly shows how to prepare each recipe. The recipe with the greatest potential for making a big mess is the one for chocolate cake, which is of course the one my kids wanted to do! Be sure to include the recommended adult supervision and they'll have a blast as they learn cooking basics.
