Knowledge Adventure's JumpStart educational series has taken on a new challenge - teaching children Spanish. In JumpStart Spanish, kids explore a tree house full of wonders that are presented in Spanish and in English. It's extremely versatile in that the title can also be set up to teach English. Additionally, children who speak other languages may choose to hear the instructions spoken in that language.

Technical Aspects:
There were no problems installing this title, however, this is where you'll set up how it is to be used - to teach English or Spanish, and which language you want used for the directions. Once that's out of the way, your child will be on their way to learning Spanish! We did find that the program ran a bit slowly on our Pentium system, so do pay attention to the requirements - the minimum stated requirements of a 486/66 with 8megs of RAM seem like wishful thinking from here!
Report and Conclusions:
JumpStart Spanish offers two modes of use: Exploration and Games. In the Exploration state, it's basically point and click, and the names of objects are spoken in both languages. Later, the program will tell you (in Spanish) what to click on. The games were quite a bit of fun, from identifying body parts to supplying the required numbers to the magician. The title is constructed for children ages 3 to 6 and covers preschool, Kindergarten and 1st grade. All in all, it's a great way to introduce your young children to another language during those all-important formative years.
