Description:

Jump Start 2nd Grade is a collection of 22 interactive adventures designed to enhance 2nd Grade curriculum. The activities include puzzles, writing, higher math, grammar, music and much more. The guide for this title is CJ Frog and his sidekick, Edison, a firefly friend. There are many questions and riddles frrom pen pals all over the country.

Reactions:

My four year old daughter was reading over my shoulder, trying mightly to tackle addition and doing quite well with it. This is one title she says she "can't wait" to get to, but we try to keep her working with developmentally appropriate materials - even when she shows us she can handle more. My only complaints about Jump Start 2nd Grade are noted in the Cons section below. Kids love the music and action this title provides, and they'll enjoy all the activities. We especially liked the jukebox that teaches about making change. I wouldn't recommend this program for most kids with ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity) because they'll just ride around in the elevator aimlessly and not accomplish much - the structure they need to accomplish the work isn't there. That's not a problem for most kids, though, and for them, Jump Start 2nd Grade may be just the ticket to getting those basic learning skills down pat.
