Description:

Simon & Schuster Interactive introduced How Many Bugs in a Box several years ago, and it continues to stand the test of time. The fact is that this storybook is more appealing than many newer releases. Children will learn early math skills that will transfer easily to other areas, and they'll have fun as it happens.

Features:

  • Based on David A. Carter's book.
  • "So cuuuuute!" according to my 5 year old.
  • Lots of buggy sing-a-long songs.
  • Targets enhancement of early math skills.

Technical Aspects:

No problems whatsoever were found here. The graphics are bright and kids will love the unexpected animations/sounds. The only bugs were all vividly colored.

Report and Conclusions:

How Many Bugs in a Box is an excellent way to introduce preschoolers to computers and early math. They'll have a wonderful time moving the bugs around, counting, exploring or just listening to the story. Children have the option of going directly to the 8 games, going to the Read Along and Explore, and meeting bugs in the Juice Bar. Be careful of those saw bugs, though - don't let them out!
