Description:

Palladium has done a great job of putting together Highlights Hidden Picture Workshop. Most parents in the US remember reading Highlights Magazine for Children when we were kid - there were always lots of stories, activities, and of course, their most popular activity, Hidden Pictures. For those of you who object to the multimedia approach, this title offers the option of printing out the pictures in black and white or clicking on the hidden objects on the screen. Correctly identified objects fill with color, jump up and various animations play. A window on the side keeps up with how many you've figured out and which ones are left to go. This title even offers three levels of difficulty - the 3rd level doesn't show pictures or names, just gives the number of objects you are to find.

We found no technical problems during installation or runtime on either computer system.

Features:

  • Discover Hidden Pictures
  • Print out - 40 puzzles are included.
  • Art Studio offers stamps, paints, patterns.
  • Print out in color or in black and white.
  • "Fun with a Purpose."

Reactions:

My 4 year old has enjoyed playing with this title on the first, easiest level, and although she loses interest after 15 to 20 minutes, she does keep coming back to it. My 13 year old and I have been playing it on Level 3 - and it's tough! As tough as the monthly challenges in the magazine edition! What I like is that the puzzles can be printed - great for long car trips or waiting for doctor appointments. Kids can start by coloring in the Hidden Pictures as they find them, then continue to color the rest of the page.

The paint program is nicely done, set up so that kids can make their own original art/puzzles. It's easier to use than some paint programs for kids and features bright colors and stamps. I spent several hours playing, and now my kids want it back! an occupational hazard, I suppose!
