Description:

There's trouble brewing in Ancient Greece and Hercules is busy, so it's up you to become a hero or heroine and save the day! Phil will guide you along your journey and give advice as needed to help you solve each of 4 different quests.

Your adventure starts at Phil's where you will be given your first quest: a minotaur is ravaging Crete and you must first find Daedalous and then help him trap the minotaur. Then it's on to Troy to help Odysseus rescue Helen, after which you must travel to Medusa Isle to help Perseus kill Medusa, and finally to the Underworld to rescue Phil from Hades.

Each of the 4 quests are fairly simple, with an arcade game at the end of each adventure. You must solve the game to move on, but there are 3 different levels of difficulty you can set the arcade action on. The animation is superb and the characters amusing.

Technical Aspects:

The game installed easily in Windows, but it did ask if you wanted to install the current version of Directx. The game ran well and there were no glitches to speak of.

Report and Conclusions:

Hades Challenge was fun, but pretty easy to solve and too short. Actually, the adventure aspect was easy, but the arcade games and the interspersed puzzles were harder. A 6 year old could play the adventure part without help, but not the puzzles in the adventure or arcade games at the end of the quests. On the other hand, a 10 yr old would enjoy the arcade, but probably not be challenged by the storyline. The 4 games can be replayed, but the adventure remains the same.
