Type: Language Arts
Price: $40.00 US

Description:

Reading Galaxy was released previously under the name "Alien Tales." While the title claims to be a "Game Show," it consists of reading text exerpts and answering questions about the content. So what's the motivation for kids to play? Well, there IS a story here - a bunch of aliens are claiming they wrote some of Earth's finest literature! The only way to prove their plagarism is to answer all the questions. But the real kicker is that you're promised the rascally alien will be punished and you get to watch! Broderbund sets out to enhance children's reading comprehension and problem solving skills with this title and it succeeds nicely. It's very colorful and catches children's imaginations from the beginning, where the program appears to be connecting to a modem in outer space!

Notes:

This title came packaged with an excellent manual, a copy of E.B. White's Charlotte's Web and an Alien Tales notepad. Installation was simple and the game ran smoothly. BEWARE: Broderbund was optimistic when writing up the system requirements for this title; it would run VERY slowly on a 386.

Features:

Focuses on reading comprehension, vocabulary, problem solving, memory, focused listening, attention to task and more. Reading Galaxy is one we'll be using for years to come.
